Our annual programme features a number of events. Typically this will include a summer garden party, where food is shared amongst us all as well as a winter fireworks party with the idea of “bring and share”. We also visit stately homes and other places of interest such as steam railways, when we bring our own food as part of the day out. Some of our more relaxing events are the summer walks, for which we have so far been blessed with good weather. Once a year we also avail ourselves of the many vegan and vegetarian locations in Brighton. The year is always rounded off with a vegan/vegetarian Christmas meal, which has always proved to be a popular event.
The group meets every third Thursday of the month at The Bullfinch Pub, London Road, Riverhead, Sevenoaks, Kent TN13 2DR. Details of the pub can be found here. Meetings start from 7.30 to 8pm. Please do feel free come along and meet us. If you would like to get in touch with us first to ensure that there have been no last-minute changes, please have a look at our “contact us” page. At every meeting and event a collection is held. By raising money in this way, we have been able to make donations as shown on our “about us” page.
Regular Group Meetings
Our events programme is varied and is set at the first meeting of every year. Part of our 2011 programme was to support National Vegetarian Week. For this, the group teamed up with “Especially Health” in Sevenoaks High Street and distributed information about vegetarianism and the group to passing shoppers.

Saturday 5 November saw our annual vegan/veggie fireworks party. As you will be aware, loud, noisy fireworks can cause distress and suffering to animals, wild or domestic. Therefore, we made sure that we ordered fireworks that were colourful but not loud. The weather held for us and a convivial evening was enjoyed by all in the warmth and comfort of John’s house. Our thanks must go to John for his hard work in spending all day cooking and preparing his house for us. Thanks also to Anna, Jane, Eileen and Pat, who cooked enough food to feed an army! Next year, everybody bring a Tupperware box so that food can easily be taken home!

Our Final Event of 2011
Saturday 17 December saw the group meet for its annual Christmas meal at the magnificent vegetarian/vegan Shahee Bhelpoori in Norbury. The friendly and helpful staff members were on hand to provide their standard, warm greeting.
Once again, an exceptional value meal was enjoyed by all. It is such a delight not to have to worry about the food, knowing safely that it is all vegetarian or vegan. We sat talking and eating for over 4 hours, after which time we dragged ourselves out, all feeling somewhat heavier for the experience!
The staff joined us in taking some pictures to mark the occasion. The gallery below captures the happy and friendly atmosphere of the event and will, no doubt, make us all look forward to the next visit!
